The modules aim to address gaps in current educational offerings on pain management, opioid use disorder and opioid stewardship. These modules build upon the UGME curriculum, previously launched in January 2021, and the three curricula taken together act as a continuum of learning.

This curriculum was co-created with subject matter experts from across disciplines (e.g., addiction medicine, family medicine, pediatrics and obstetrics, anesthesiology), drawn from across the country and partnered with patient subject matter experts and family caregivers.

These resources are open and accessible to all in health sciences and health professions education.

“The Culture of Academic Medicine Initiative (CAMi) encourages Canadian academic medicine institutions to adopt and implement best practices and initiatives that foster respectful, inclusive, and health-promoting environments for the well-being of all.

This initiative also seeks to empower individuals in academic medicine to collectively strive towards embedding equity, compassion, respect, safe spaces, and self-care into the fabric of our communities.”

The initiative adopts the Okanagan Charter:

“An International Charter for Health Promoting Universities and Colleges, which calls on post-secondary institutions to embed health into all aspects of campus culture, lead health promotion action, and collaboration locally and globally.”
